SPRING INSPECTIONS & THE COST OF WAITING
Deferred building maintenance could end up costing you big. Here are a few of the biggest issues we see during our spring inspections.
1. Glass Damage
Winter storms, high winds, and drastic temperature
swings can leave behind chipped or scratched glass. These issues can worsen over time if not addressed.
2. Cracked Caulking and Failed Seals
Freeze-thaw cycles can cause caulking around windows, doors, joints, and roof seams to separate, leaving small gaps that can allow water to infiltrate. This can lead to rot, mold, or interior damage over time.
3. Exterior Surface Staining or Organic Growth
Moist winter conditions often lead to algae, mildew, or staining on siding, brick, roofs, and concrete surfaces. These issues are easy to overlook but can worsen as temperatures rise.
4. Gutter & Downspout Problems
Ice, debris, and snow weight can loosen gutters or clog downspouts. Even partial blockages can cause water to overflow against siding or foundations during spring rains.
A consistent annual maintenance program costs a fraction of a single corrective event. Most of our clients spend less per year on their twice yearly inspections then they would addressing damage that could have been prevented with an inspection.
